This is my story about why I became a boudoir photographer.

(Get your snacks and hot choc ready. You're in for a ride.)

Okay here goes..
Before I decided to say yes to boudoir and fantasy photography, I said yes to many other genres of photography (well everything except pets and babies).
I started out as a food photographer but after a while, I got bored of it. Yes, food looks good. Yes, they are delicious. Yes, I get to visit cafes and restaurants to take photos. But they don't talk to me, so I decided to do something different.

Then I started taking photos of people. That was fun - meeting new people, they can communicate with me (yay!), so I did this for a while. I went into the world of fashion, conceptual portraits, documented events and intimate weddings. And as people started to notice my work, they would always say, "Natalia, your images are so pretty."  I knew I wanted to do something more, something that would be more impactful through art and photography. And I decided I would not settle with just "pretty". Because everyone knows and can create pretty photos. I wanted something more.

The turning point took place in August 2019 when a friend of mine asked if I would be able to document her life story with an intimate, raw, boudoir photoshoot. She shared that she's been through a lot and she wanted to celebrate her body just the way it was - all the curves, love rolls, beauty marks -- all in their glory. I initially thought to myself that it would be like any other fashion photoshoots I've done, just with less clothing. So we did. We took photos, we laughed, we teared up, we hugged. She later shared that she fell in love with herself again and has never felt that way before.

I was shooketh. And that was my THIS IS IT moment. That session was the time when I realised I could make an impact on someone's life through photography. It changed the way that I see the female body as a beautiful work of art and that it is worth celebrating.

My aim through boudoir and fantasy photography is this: I want to bring positive change to someone's life and make an impact on the next generations to come by uplifting and empowering women to be more confident, one woman at a time. Together, I want to create a community with a deep rooted belief that each one of us is unique, precious, and wonderfully made.

I thank you if you have made it this far. Thank you for being here. You are loved. You are worthy. You are beautiful.

Keep shining, my friend.
